WHO
WE ARE
We believe in a world where children lead the way in protecting nature and restoring balance to our planet. By nurturing their creativity, courage, and sense of purpose, we inspire young people to become guardians of the earth – uniting schools and communities across borders through projects introduced by the DCCI School Awards.
THE PROBLEM WE ARE ADDRESSING
Climate change is the defining challenge of our time. Soil degradation, food insecurity, and disconnection from nature have left young people anxious and uncertain about the future.
Yet, when given the tools and stories to act, children become extraordinary agents of change.
DCCI bridges the gap between education and tangible climate solutions – replacing fear with creativity, and anxiety with purpose.
Through truth-based storytelling and experiential learning, pupils understand complex issues like soil regeneration, sustainable farming, and ocean conservation in ways that are emotionally meaningful and scientifically grounded. Each story awakens curiosity and compassion, empowering students to believe they can help restore the planet.
OUR MOVEMENT
The Direct Climate Cooling Initiative (DCCI) is a global movement nurturing young environmental leaders passionate about sustainable development. We connect students aged 8–18 with inspiring real-world climate solutions through creative storytelling, science, and collaboration. Launched through The Farm, the third book in The Woodland Sprite Series by Fleur Rossdale, DCCI brings together business, science, schools, and sponsors to turn imagination into action.
The Farm explores the challenges of soil health and regenerative agriculture, highlighting solutions already underway through partners such as Justdiggit, Food Forest Farmers, Klim, and Communities EverGreening Africa.
The forthcoming book, All at Sea: The Magical Worlds of Kelp and Coral (2026), extends these lessons to ocean conservation – inspiring school-led fundraising projects that support marine biodiversity and coastal resilience. Through our growing network of schools, we transform classrooms into hubs of climate action, where children learn not only to understand nature but to protect it.
GOVERNANCE
The Fleur Rossdale Foundation supporting the Direct Climate Cooling Initiative as the DCCI School Awards operates under transparent and ethical governance, ensuring accountability, inclusivity, and measurable impact.
Our governance framework includes:
-
An Advisory Board of educators, scientists, environmentalists, and philanthropic advisors who guide our strategic direction.
-
Partnerships with reputable organisations such as Justdiggit, Klim, and Communities EverGreening Africa, ensuring integrity and alignment with global sustainability goals.
-
Clear reporting and monitoring processes for funded school projects, ensuring every contribution is traceable to real outcomes.
We are committed to ensuring that every school, sponsor, and supporter can see the tangible difference their participation makes – not only in numbers, but in lives, communities, and ecosystems renewed.
